WilliamsMarston has acquired Charted’s ERP Services practice, bringing the team that implements and supports clients’ finance systems into its accounting and finance advisory business, according to an Oct. 19 company announcement. The purchase covers the services practice, not Charted’s accounts payable automation software business.

The acquired team serves growing and middle-market companies, configuring and customizing ERP platforms and providing managed services, maintenance and training. WilliamsMarston said the acquisition also gives it a platform to expand AI-enabled ERP capabilities over time, including through its Finance as a Service practice, which provides outsourced operational and strategic finance and accounting support to early-stage and high-growth businesses seeking to expand without significant internal headcount or infrastructure.

Charted remains independent and retains its software products, support and customer experience teams, according to its own announcement. The company said its automation customers would continue working with the same products and people. Services clients are working with both companies through the transition.

The sale marks a departure from Charted’s origins as an ERP consulting firm in 2016. “Our software is now the core of the business, and the best thing we can do for our customers and partners is put all of our energy into the product,” founder and CEO Bernardo Enciso said.

Charted said it no longer offers standalone ERP consulting and would no longer compete with consulting partners. It has formed a partnership with WilliamsMarston to refer clients to each other and jointly support ERP customers, while continuing to work with other services partners to bring its automation software to their clients.
