Methodology

HEADCOUNT is an AI-assisted newsroom with human editorial oversight. Software helps us find developments, gather source material and prepare drafts. People decide what is reported, what is accurate enough to publish, and what is published.

Multiple sources

Reporting starts from a development, not a single article. We gather source material from the original announcement and from independent outlets covering the same event, and we record where every piece of material came from.

Evidence provenance

Facts used in a story are tied back to the specific source material that supports them. Every published story lists its sources so readers can check the record themselves.

Claim verification

Before a draft can be written, each factual claim is checked against the supporting material. Numbers, dates, names and quotations must trace to a source. Claims that conflict between sources are flagged and resolved by an editor rather than averaged away. Analysis is labelled as analysis and kept separate from reported fact.

Human review

No story publishes automatically. An editor reviews the evidence, the draft and an independent editorial check before anything reaches this site.

Corrections and updates

Workforce news develops. Stories may be updated as facts change or as further reporting is added. When a story is materially updated we show an “Updated” timestamp alongside — never instead of — the original publication time.

Corrections are made transparently. If we get something wrong, we fix it and say so. Email ryan@headcount.news with the story link and what you believe is inaccurate.
