Tempo opens capacity and labor-cost data to AI assistants

The MCP Server gives Tempo Cloud customers read-only access through tools including Claude Code, Codex and Cursor at no additional charge.

Tempo Software is giving existing Tempo Cloud customers a read-only way to ask AI assistants which teams are overcommitted and how quickly projects are spending their budgets, using records already held in Tempo. The MCP Server works with tools including Claude Code, Codex and Cursor, the company said in its Oct. 6 announcement.

Access follows each user's existing Tempo permissions. An assistant can retrieve the records that person is allowed to see, but cannot change them through the server, according to the company.

For workforce planning, Tempo Capacity Planner supplies planned and actual hours and identifies overcommitted roles and teams. Financial Manager data supports comparisons of planned and actual labor costs, burn-rate calculations and projections of when a project will exhaust its budget. The questions users can answer depend on the Tempo products their organization runs.

Timesheets data adds a view of how hours are divided among activities, including internal work and capital expenditure work, as well as pending approvals. Tempo says the connection lets users query those records from a development environment, terminal or chat window rather than exporting reports and reconciling spreadsheets manually.

Pairing the server with other connections, including Atlassian's Rovo MCP Server for Jira, CRM connectors and code repositories, can let an assistant compare delivered work with the time and cost required, the company said.

The server is available now on Tempo Cloud at no additional cost for organizations with existing product licenses.
