Teamsters expand Amazon picket to DBK1 in Queens
More drivers joined Local 804 as the union presses Amazon for recognition and backs a New York City bill requiring direct employment of delivery drivers.
The Teamsters extended picket lines to Amazon’s DBK1 facility in Woodside, Queens, on Oct. 7, 2026, as more delivery drivers joined Local 804 and demanded union recognition, according to a union statement. The drivers join hundreds of co-workers at the facility who organized with the Teamsters last year.
The Queens action is part recognition fight and part challenge to Amazon’s delivery labor model. DBK1 drivers work under Amazon’s Delivery Service Partner model, according to Teamsters for a Democratic Union, which reported that drivers marched on management to demand recognition.
Drivers are seeking better pay, health care and job security. The action, organized by the Teamsters Amazon National Negotiating Committee, also presses a national demand: that Amazon begin bargaining with more than 10,000 workers the union says have organized across the country. Workers are calling for an end to what the Teamsters describe as Amazon’s unfair labor practices.
In New York City, the Teamsters are backing the Delivery Protection Act alongside their organizing effort. The legislation would ban captive subcontracting for deliveries in the city and require companies to employ drivers directly, according to the union’s description in a separate Oct. 7 statement. The Teamsters said the bill has supermajority support in the City Council and backing from the mayoral administration.
