Lennox opens Fort Lauderdale HVAC training center after training nearly 1,600 technicians
The Fort Lauderdale site includes a 6,000-square-foot training floor for National Account Services; Lennox is also building a larger customer training center near its Texas headquarters.
Lennox has opened a Fort Lauderdale headquarters and training center for its National Account Services business, adding a 6,000-square-foot space where technicians, managers and field leaders work on commercial HVAC equipment alongside classroom instruction, the company said in a September 3 announcement.
The more durable number is the pipeline behind it: Lennox says its national service organization has trained nearly 1,600 technicians since 2016. MarketScreener lists Lennox with 5,400 employees, making the training count a material measure of how much service capacity the company has been building internally.
The entry point is Build-A-Tech, a paid apprenticeship running six to eight months that pairs classroom work with field experience and mentorship. From there, the Fort Lauderdale programs feed defined rungs: Skilled Technician, Advanced Technician, Lead Master and a Manager-in-Training track for people moving into field leadership.
That manager rung makes the program more than an entry-level technician pipeline. Lennox National Account Services maintains, repairs and replaces HVAC equipment for some of the country's largest retailers, customers that can run hundreds or thousands of sites, and consistency across that footprint depends on supervisors as well as technicians.
"National account customers rely on Lennox to support critical operations across hundreds or even thousands of locations," Joe Nassab, executive vice president and president of Lennox Building Climate Solutions, said in the announcement. "As NAS continues to grow, facilities like this help ensure we're scaling expertise alongside our business."
Lennox is also building an 18,000-square-foot Commercial HVAC Experience and Training Center near its Richardson, Texas, headquarters, three times the size of the Florida training floor and aimed at customers rather than employees, offering hands-on access to equipment and controls demonstrations. It joins nine Lennox LIVE residential training labs across North America and a commercial refrigeration training center in Stone Mountain, Georgia.
The workforce spending lands in a soft patch for the stock. On the same day as the opening, MarketScreener listed MT items saying Morgan Stanley adjusted its Lennox price target to $375 from $450, kept an underweight rating and saw volume and pricing headwinds into 2027. Shares closed at $390.53 on September 4, down 19.57% for the year to date.
