Corvid plans 423 jobs in $95 million Mooresville expansion
The defense contractor’s planned manufacturing and engineering roles would carry an average salary of $81,550, above Iredell County’s average wage.
Corvid Technologies plans to add 423 jobs and a 400,000-square-foot manufacturing facility at its Mooresville, North Carolina, headquarters as part of a $95 million expansion focused on vehicle launch systems, according to an Oct. 13 announcement from Gov. Josh Stein’s office.
The positions include assemblers, electricians, engineers, production managers, technicians and testers. Annual salaries are expected to average $81,550, compared with Iredell County’s average wage of $64,895, though pay would vary by role. State officials estimate the jobs could generate nearly $34.5 million in annual payroll.
The employee-owned defense contractor specializes in digital engineering, modeling and simulation, and precision manufacturing. President and CEO David Robinson said in the announcement that Corvid’s manufacturing space had grown from 8,000 square feet to 800,000 square feet in two and a half years. He attributed that growth to customer demand and the company’s confidence in its employees.
The state’s Economic Investment Committee approved a Job Development Investment Grant for the expansion on Oct. 13. The agreement authorizes up to $4,449,750 in reimbursements over 12 years. Payments depend on annual verification by the state departments of Commerce and Revenue that Corvid has met its incremental job-creation and investment targets.
