Aerotek buys PAC Group to add project delivery to its staffing business

The Allegis Group unit also launched automation and facilities practices. PAC, a Troy, Michigan, firm with revenue listed at $20 million to $30 million, keeps its name and co-founder.

Aerotek, the Allegis Group division best known for supplying workers to North American manufacturers, warehouses and builders, has bought The PAC Group, a Troy, Michigan, firm that sells finished work as well as people. PAC handles engineering, project management and industrial maintenance in 19 countries and delivers that work through staffing, delivery-based contracts and turnkey programs, according to a statement to Staffing Industry Analysts.

The Aug. 17 acquisition landed the same day Aerotek launched two dedicated practices, one for facilities management and one for automation, robotics and installation.

The available figures point to a capability purchase rather than a revenue purchase. LinkedIn company data puts PAC's annual revenue in the $20 million to $30 million range. Aerotek serves more than 18,000 clients a year from over 200 offices, all of them in North America, according to its corporate description. SIA ranks its parent, Allegis, as the largest staffing provider in the United States. PAC adds something the buyer's office network does not: an international footprint and a way of contracting for outcomes.

PAC's announcement describes the combination in those terms, pairing Aerotek's talent network and customer reach with PAC's "mature delivery model." Shah Firoozi, PAC's co-founder and president, said: "Backed by Aerotek's talent engine and geographic footprint, we can expand into new sectors." Aerotek told SIA the deal adds depth to its manufacturing support and maintenance operations, including the ability to deploy skilled teams quickly.

Tony Bartolucci, senior vice president of Aerotek Services, tied both the practices and the acquisition to client demand for technology investment, facility modernization and asset performance handled within a single service relationship, according to Outsource Accelerator.

Facilities management aims to maintain building systems, oversee how those systems perform and manage subcontractors. Automation, robotics and installation is meant to bring new technology online at client sites. In both, Aerotek would be answerable for the work, not just for the headcount.

Aerotek has been running some engagements this way already. The company said the deal builds on a longstanding partnership with PAC and will speed up a services growth strategy it has pursued for the past two years. One case study Aerotek published in August describes a construction contractor that grew from a single data center project to more than 20 active sites. Aerotek Services supplied and managed about 300 trades workers on that contract. It took on workforce coordination, performance management and administrative oversight, and it administered the client's owner-controlled insurance program.

PAC's own leadership points to the plant-floor side of the work. Jason LeBlanc, listed on LinkedIn as PAC's president and chief operating officer since 2022, describes a team with expertise in material handling automation, production equipment, robotic and AGV delivery systems, and the building design that houses production lines, drawing on decades of automotive and manufacturing experience. Before PAC, his profile shows, he held reliability and maintenance engineering roles at Amazon. In March, PAC advertised for commissioning technicians based remotely in the U.S. who would travel to project sites across the country.

PAC will operate as an Aerotek company. Its name and brand stay unchanged, and Firoozi will continue to lead it alongside the existing PAC leadership team, according to the company's announcement.
